TableBase, a database of tabular data on companies, industries, products and demographics, has gotten a new look, as well as more content and other enhancements.
TableBase's new default interface has a Simple Search text box that looks for results across the database, while the Advanced Search option provides the kind of search TableBase users will be used to.
Gale RDS Business Suite has provided a guided video tour of the new interface, as well as an overview of the new features and functionality. You can view the tour and learn more at the RDS Business Suite website.
Wed, 19 Nov 2008 12:02:01 -0500Kresge Library has acquired two new industry databases: Alternative Energy eTrack and Medical eTrack. Both databases are available to the Ross community only.
Alternative Energy eTrack includes news, deal information, company profiles, and reports related to the alternate and renewable energy industries. Topics include renewables, coal to gas, biomass to liquids, carbon emissions and trading, and hydrogen and fuel cells.
Medical eTrack includes similar information for the medical equipment market, as well as clinical trials, procedures, and patents, news and research, product and pipeline, and company deals. Additionally, information can be organized by country and company.

Fri, 07 Nov 2008 14:21:32 -0500Vault Online Career Library has changed how users access Career Guides. In the past, users were required to download Adobe Digital Reader to view guides. Now users will be asked for their name and email address and will be sent a link to the selected guide via email.
The link will function for 2 clicks in a 48 hour period. After that period has passed, users will need to return to Vault to request the guide again.
The Kresge Library recommends that Vault users submit their umich.edu email address to request Career Guides, and not a Google, Yahoo!, or other address.

Thu, 16 Oct 2008 16:22:35 -0500We are updating computer network equipment on Saturday September 20th and that will lead to some connection problems at Kresge Library. The installation of new network hardware will take place on Saturday September 20th from 8am to 2pm.
During this window, the network will be down for not only people in Kresge Library, but also for people try to connect to Kresge resources (through our proxy servers) from off campus.
We will maintain regular hours at Kresge Library on the 20th (10am to 10pm), but please be aware that we will probably not have network and Internet access before 2pm. This will have an impact on our services, including coursepack pickup and checking items out of the library.
Also please be aware that remote access to Kresge Databases will not work. However, resources that are available across campus can be used during this outage. For a list of these databases that will be available, please visit:

Financial data and information on financial institutions that was previously accessed through the BankScope database is now available through Orbis. Orbis is available to all UM users.
